Course Aims

The aim of the course is introduce existing first aid trained members of staff or update existing staff with knowledge of the application of the A.E.D. in the workplace.This will not cover the suggested syllabus for an Appointed Persons course, but can be added to the Appointed Persons course as an additional unit.  

Entry Requirements

All candidates must be able to attend 100% of the course. Reasonable agility is required, Candidates must be able to demonstrate an ability to resuscitate a person on the floor, and use the A.E.D. safely.

Duration

This course runs over 1 day for 2 hours*. or as an extra 2 hour module to the Appointed Persons Course or First AId at Work

Assessment

The students are assessed on the basis of their performance during the day.

Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

Objective

Successful completion of the course will enable candidates to :  

•  Identify potentially hazardous situations

•  Quickly and efficiently alert the emergency services

•  Provide First Aid to work colleagues

•  Safely administer defibrillation where needed

Syllabus

The Course syllabus consists of:

•  Resuscitation Refresher

•  Introduction to the A.E.D.

•  Safe use of the A.E.D.

•  Class Practice

* not including lunch
