Course Aims 

The aim of the course is to introduce new members of staff or update existing staff with knowledge of Manual Handling. This certificate will also help to increase self-motivation and confidence. 

Entry Requirement

On approval of the employer.  Candidates must attend 100% of the course.

Duration

This is a 3-hour course, starting at approximately 9.30am and ending at 2pm. 

Assessment 

The students are assessed on the basis of their performance during the day. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

 Objective

 Successful completion of the course will enable candidates to:   

•  Identify reasons for good Manual Handling

•  Quickly and efficiently assess tasks

•  Reduce time off due to injury

The Course syllabus consists of:

•  General Introduction to regulations

•  Introduction to Manual Handling

•  The spine and its parts

•  Basic lifting technique

•  Lifting equipment

•  Class practice of methods

•  Assessment of knowledge
