Course Aims

The aim of the course is introduce new members of staff, or update existing staff with knowledge of First aid in the workplace. Combined with some paediatric first aid and to give the employer an ‘Appointed Person’ First Aider to comply with the regulations and the approved code of practice (ACOP).

Entry Requirements

All candidates must be able to attend 100% of the course. Reasonable agility is required, Candidates must be able to demonstrate an ability to resuscitate a person on the floor, and table (Baby)

Duration

This course runs over 1 day for 6 hours*.

Assessment

The students are assessed on the basis of their performance during the day.

Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance approved by the HSE for Appointed Persons in the workplace.

Objective

Successful completion of the course will enable candidates to :  

  •  Identify potentially hazardous situations

  •  Quickly and efficiently alert the emergency services

  •  Provide First Aid to work colleagues and children

  •  Ensure First Aid equipment is up to date and correct

  •  Act as an Appointed Person First Aider in the work place

  •  Resuscitation for Child and Baby

  •  First Aid Kits
