Press ReleaseIssued April 2008 What a busy start to the year we have had, We have taken delivery of a new front line ambulance (new to us) A 2003 Mercedes Sprinter Jacab ambulance ex Welsh Ambulance service. With this new vehicle we have continued our commitment to being as carbon friendly as we can. The new engine is a Euro 3 (low emissions and very economical) and the vehicle will see us move forward for the next 5 years. Issued 8 November 2005 Brighton based company WANT Medical Services have continued their support for UK Charities by donating 2 days emergency ambulance cover to a new NSPCC ad campaign to be shown in the New Year. Managing Director Wayne Sturt says, “It all started 2 weeks ago when I received a call from one of our film clients asking if we could help in any way with the filming of an advert, the budget was non existent and they really needed ambulance cover as there were to be cars exploding and children used in the story line”. By Wednesday night we had the call sheet outlining the days of filming and the early start of 06:30 in the East End of London. The location - a local cycle track and link road, and the weather - standard British winter: cold, wet and windy! Once breakfast had been duly eaten the director and stunt coordinator set about the task of setting up the first shot of the day - a wide view of cars driving on the road, by 16:40 we had lost the light and packed up for the day, we had filmed the cars colliding and tomorrow is the explosion scene. Another early start but the weather is blue skies and sun, however this poses a problem for the director as all yesterdays filming was with wet roads. The fire cover we had provided the answer with a wet down of the road and cars and we set up for the big shot. Rigging a car to explode is a long and dangerous process and takes up most of the day, by 15:00 we are ready and 3 cameras are positioned to catch every detail of the bang, we will only get one chance to film this! The shot is a success and some cut away shots of bystanders and the driver are done with flame effects provided from a gas powered flame bar held against the car. By 16:30 the light is gone and it is all over, the team set about packing up and looking forward to their next project. As a company WANT Medical Services are always looking for ways to support local and national charity work whenever we can, and we were delighted to have been asked to help with such a worthwhile cause. Other recent charity work included 4x4 response car cover for a Cancer Research ad campaign and sponsorship for a new Drugs Awareness programme for local junior schools. WANT Medical Services specialise in providing medical cover for the Film and TV industry as well as public and sporting events and concerts. More information can be found on their website www.w-a-n-t.co.uk or by calling the control centre on 01273 241710
